It’s hot outside. It’s getting hotter. What’s worse than having to deal with the heat is not having the appropriate clothing to suffer in it.
Who wants to spend money on shorts when we all have plenty of jeans hanging in our closets that we don’t wear anymore – perfect for a rebirth into the favorite pair of shorts.
First, find the right pair of old jeans to turn into shorts– tight jeans will make tight shorts (think about that thigh area) and loser jeans will make looser shorts. I always like my shorts generally looser than my jeans so I’m using a pair of jeans that are too big for me now to make the perfect shorts.
Once you’ve selected your jeans, put them on and make a small incision with your fabric scissors about 2 or 3 inches below where you want them to sit.
Turn your iron onto the cotton setting and take off the jeans, and cut the rest of the length of the thigh across the jean.
Fold about an inch up from the frayed edge, and iron it flat.
Then fold the edge a second time, making sure the bottom is even, and iron flat again
Take your sewing machine and sew along the top edge of the fold to keep the hem in place.
Then just put them on and go back to enjoying this wonderful summer weather with the perfect summer short.
